Chard, Red - 1 ct

$3.48

Chard is known for being solid and earthy, a substantial side or the humble basis of hearty soups. But the array of shades in the stems and veins of this variety make it a bit of a show-off. Dynamite in a sauté and especially lovely for summer salads, chard is an excellent source of vitamin C and the antioxidant beta carotene (a pre-cursor for vitamin A), plus it's a good source of potassium and magnesium.

We strive to choose only organically grown or certified organic produce from as close to home as possible. However, sometimes we are unable to find a local AND organic option, and in that event we may choose to offer a pesiticide-free local product from a farmer that uses integrated pest management on their crops.

From Our Farmers

To make sure you can always get the best produce and pantry items available, we source fruits, veggies and grocery items from many of our trusted local farmers and producers. As with all the products in our Marketplace, we prioritize working with local producers as seasonality allows, and we maintain our strict sourcing standards. Produce and pantry items that’s not available from Texas farmers or producers due to growing region or season will always be secondary when sourcing.

Do not wash Swiss chard before storing as the exposure to water encourages spoilage. Place chard in a plastic storage bag and wrap the bag tightly around the chard, squeezing out as much of the air from the bag as possible. Place in refrigerator where it will keep fresh for up to 5 days. If you have large batches of chard, you can blanch the leaves and then freeze them.
